Connecting to ResNet
ResNet is a public (unsecured) network, which means no password or login authentication is required. Public networks supply convenience to its users by giving instant connectivity, but this convenience comes at a cost. ResNet cannot control who can and cannot connect to its network. Badly infected users can spread viruses and malware and users with malicious intent may try and gain access to your computer.
For your best chance to avoid security breaches to your computer please follow the advice found on the Security Support page.
Connecting through Wireless
To use ResNet through wireless, you need...
1. A wireless network card (802.11a/b/g)
Make sure your wireless network card is installed properly on your computer with the proper support drivers. Your wireless network should be able to detect wireless signals surrounding your computer.
Select a network with 'ResNet' in its name and click connect.
You should now be connected to ResNet.

Connecting through Ethernet
To use ResNet through Ethernet, you need...
- an Ethernet card
- a CAT 5 (Category 5) cable
- a room with a orange RJ-45 connecter
Make sure your Ethernet card is installed properly on your computer with the proper support drivers. Find a connection panel box in the room and locate an orange RJ-45 connector. Plug your CAT5 cable into your Ethernet card and the RJ-45 connector. Your computer should automatically connect to ResNet.
If you cannot connect, follow our TCP/IP configuration found at our Network Troubleshooting page.
